TRICARE Coverage for TMS

TMS Therapy Centers Colorado is a TRICARE-authorized provider, and TRICARE covers TMS for major depressive disorder with pre-authorization. The criteria are specific: beneficiaries 15 and older, a documented PHQ-9 score of 15 or higher within the past four weeks, nonresponse to at least two antidepressants from different classes plus a trial of evidence-based psychotherapy, and no listed contraindications. Initial approval allows up to 36 sessions over 90 days.

One thing worth knowing up front: TRICARE covers TMS for major depressive disorder only — not for PTSD or other conditions, even where TMS is used clinically for them elsewhere.
